Inside HP This Week

Linux Indemnification Works: Or so the survey seems to say. Rob
Enderle, principal analyst at the Enderle Group, extrapolates that conclusion
from a Citibank poll asking CIOs which multinationals they were likely
to buy from. HP came out on top as a Linux vendor. "In my read of the
results," writes Enderle," given that IBM's investment in Linux is well
over HP's, and Dell's relative investment is comparatively
insignificant- IBM is off between 25 and 50 percent from where the company should
be." He says indemnification, or HP's promise that it will protect its
customers from any lawsuits from SCO, made a difference with customers.
