2) Feature: Wireless Hotspots Heat Up
------------------------------------------------------------
By Dave Molta
Several years ago, we recognized that a commoditized market for Wi-Fi,
driven largely by mass consumer adoption of home networking, would
drive the broader enterprise market. Given the technology's limited
coverage, however, it's hard to imagine how anyone will turn wide-area
Wi-Fi into a profitable business endeavor.

Deep Blue Wireless, Gric Communications, Hotspotzz, iPass, Surf and
Sip, T-Mobile, Toshiba and Wayport. After perusing the RFIs, we
selected aggregator Boingo Wireless as our Editor's Choice.

b) NWC Inc.: Oops
I deployed the CustomerLookup Web service before I left for N+I, but
it was an older version. It turns out it hasn't been working for the
last couple weeks. I've now redeployed, and all is well again. Version
control is something that was always a pain, but definitely worth it
when things like that happen.

Windows OS have a lot of built-in access control features that should
be used by Systems Administrators to designate user access to various
areas. Unfortunately, standard access control solutions (including
personal firewalls) do not allow the assignment of permissions for
TCP/IP connections on a per user basis (as you could for files on
NTFS).
PortsLock allows you to solve all such security problems.
